Addons stay, but some automation will be restricted
Blizzard developers have confirmed that WoW Forever will not simply expose the old Classic addon environment unchanged. Reporting from new interviews says Forever will use restrictions similar to modern WoW for computational or automated combat assistance, including functions that automatically communicate or mark targets for players.
This does not mean every addon is banned. The exact API surface, protected functions and compatibility of individual addons still need to be verified in the beta client.
Riding training is meant to cost time and gold
Developers also said mount-riding training will be more expensive than before and is intended to represent meaningful time and effort. The interview reporting specifically says players should not expect free riding training at level 40.
Exact trainer prices can still change before launch, so the important confirmed direction is the cost philosophy rather than a final gold number.
Meeting Stones open LFG, but do not teleport the party
Forever’s Meeting Stones are designed to open a Looking for Group interface near dungeon entrances. They help players find or list groups, but they do not teleport players to the dungeon.
That keeps travel and gathering as part of the dungeon experience and preserves Warlock summoning as a useful class niche. Blizzard’s stated design goal is to retain some of the social ramp-up time before a run rather than turning the stone into a Retail-style queue-and-teleport button.
PvP progression runs through 14 ranks
Developer interview reporting says Honor will advance a PvP progression track through 14 ranks during each PvP season or patch cycle. The system is expected to award cosmetic rewards as well as armor carrying PvP-oriented stats.
Final Honor thresholds, decay rules, exact rewards and season lengths have not yet been published. Those values should be treated as beta-verification targets.
Related: dungeon spam, Tokens and paid boosts
A separate set of interviews already established two other important Forever directions: dungeon mob XP is being reduced while dungeon-quest XP is increased, and the team currently has no plans for a WoW Token or purchasable character boosts. Those details are covered in our Hardcore, dungeon XP and no-Token report.
Watch the official Forever presentation
Blizzard has also published the official World of Warcraft: Forever — Evolving a Timeless World BlizzCon presentation. It focuses on the visual and technical work being done to refresh original Azeroth while preserving its older art direction.
