Hardcore characters can reportedly transfer after death
Blizzard’s official roadmap already confirms Hardcore as post-launch content. A dedicated BlizzCon Hardcore panel added more detail: reporting from the panel says a character that dies in Hardcore will be able to move to a Normal, PvP or Roleplaying ruleset instead of simply becoming unusable.
Legacy Points earned during the Hardcore run are also reported to carry out with the character. Hardcore remains an enclosed ecosystem in the other direction: normal-rule progression does not feed back into Hardcore.
Hardcore gets its own Legacy challenges
The panel report says Hardcore-specific Legacy challenges will replace PvP-oriented achievements that do not fit the one-life ruleset. That makes Forever’s account-wide Legacy system part of the Hardcore loop rather than an unrelated feature.
Disconnect protection is being worked on
Panel reporting also describes a new character-protection system aimed at preventing unfair deaths from certain lag or connection problems. Blizzard has not yet published the exact detection rules, duration or abuse safeguards, so those details remain pending.
Dungeon leveling is being deliberately reshaped
In a separate developer interview, the team explained that XP from dungeon monsters is being brought down, while XP from completing dungeon quests is being increased substantially. The intended result is a very rewarding first complete dungeon run without making repeated mob-clearing the strongest leveling route.
No current plans for a WoW Token or paid character boosts
Associate Production Director Clay Stone said the team currently has “no plans” for a WoW Token or purchasable character boosts in Forever. He tied that position to the importance of the 1–60 leveling journey and learning the game by playing it.
The wording is important: this is the team’s current position, not a promise that can never change. The site will keep it labeled as a developer-interview statement rather than an immutable Forever rule.
Why this matters before beta
Beta begins September 17, so these systems can soon be checked against actual client behavior. Dungeon XP values, Hardcore UI and the exact Legacy interactions should be treated as high-priority verification targets once testing opens.
